With the new Point of Presence in Querétaro, Sparkle extends its Latin American backbone and consolidates its position as leading global Tier-1 Internet provider in the region
Sparkle, the first international service provider in Italy and among the top global operators, announces the expansion of its network in Mexico with the opening of a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Querétaro. The new PoP enhances Sparkle’s network capillarity in Latin America, further consolidating its position as one of the region’s top international operators.
Fully integrated with Sparkle’s Tier-1 global IP backbone Seabone – which boasts extensive coverage in Central and South America with 32 Points of Presence in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Puerto Rico, Peru, and Venezuela – the new node allows network operators, ISPs, OTTs, content delivery networks, and content and application providers to benefit from reliable, low-latency IP transit services with throughput of up to 8 Terabits per second.
Additionally, customers have access to a comprehensive suite of IP solutions, including DDoS Protection, which safeguards networks against cyberattacks, and Virtual NAP, providing virtual access to leading Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) without the need for proprietary infrastructure development.
With the launch of the new PoP in Querétaro – following the establishment of its subsidiary TI Sparkle Mexicana S.A. de C.V. – Sparkle strengthens its presence in Mexico, adding a new strategic infrastructure alongside its existing nodes in McAllen, El Paso, and Dallas (United States). This expansion is designed to ensure maximum diversification and redundancy for local customers, addressing the growing demand for connectivity driven by new technologies, multimedia platforms, and cloud services.
As part of its infrastructure expansion strategy, Sparkle recently announced its role in the development of the MANTA subsea cable system, which will directly connect Mexico with the United States and Central and Latin America, further strengthening Mexico’s centrality as a key data traffic hub in the continent. MANTA will complement Sparkle’s existing terrestrial and submarine networks, which also include three “digital highways” – Curie in the Pacific and Monet and Seabras-1 in the Atlantic – providing a diversified route for connectivity from South to North America, ensuring full redundancy and high-quality traffic routing.
“The opening of our Point of Presence in Mexico represents a strategic step in Sparkle’s expansion across the Americas, with targeted investments to support the continent’s digital growth,” said Enrico Bagnasco, CEO of Sparkle. “Mexico is a rapidly developing digital market, and our presence here allows us to better serve operators, providers, and businesses operating in this fast-evolving ecosystem.”
In the coming months, Sparkle will further expand its network with the launch of a new PoP in San Diego, improving the performance of Sparkle Seabone’s global Tier-1 IP transit service with lower latency and enhanced traffic routing capabilities.
