Carrier Community (CC) is pleased to announce the upcoming digital edition of the CC-Webinar.Live Executive Roundtable Panel Discussion, taking place on 24 June 2026. This exclusive virtual session forms part of the prestigious AFRICA 2026 GCCM – Cabo Verde, bringing together senior executives, technology leaders, cloud providers, hyperscalers, data center operators, regulators, investors, and key decision-makers from across the global telecommunications and digital infrastructure ecosystem.

The executive roundtable will focus on the timely and strategic theme:

“Is West Africa Ready for Its First Full Cloud Region?”

As digital transformation accelerates across Africa, demand for cloud services, AI-driven applications, enterprise digitalization, fintech innovation, content delivery, and low-latency connectivity continues to grow at an unprecedented pace. West Africa is emerging as a strategically important digital hub, driven by rapid internet adoption, expanding submarine cable connectivity, growing data center investments, and increasing demand for secure and scalable cloud infrastructure.

This high-level discussion will explore whether the region possesses the technological, regulatory, infrastructural, and investment readiness required to support its first fully operational hyperscale cloud region. Industry leaders will examine the critical factors shaping cloud ecosystem development, including data sovereignty, interconnection capacity, energy reliability, cybersecurity resilience, edge computing, and the growing role of AI-powered infrastructure.

Participants can expect expert insights into the opportunities and challenges associated with establishing a regional cloud hub in West Africa, including the impact on enterprise innovation, digital inclusion, smart cities, financial services, e-government platforms, and cross-border digital trade. The discussion will also address how local and international stakeholders can collaborate to accelerate cloud adoption while ensuring compliance, sustainability, operational resilience, and long-term scalability.

The roundtable will further highlight the importance of strategic partnerships between carriers, internet exchange providers, cloud operators, governments, and infrastructure investors in building a competitive and future-ready digital ecosystem capable of supporting next-generation technologies and regional economic growth.

In addition, panelists will examine evolving regulatory frameworks, sustainability priorities, renewable energy integration, investment models, and connectivity strategies required to position West Africa as a major emerging cloud and digital infrastructure destination.

This interactive forum will provide a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, strategic dialogue, and partnership development, supporting the advancement of resilient, secure, and sustainable digital transformation initiatives across West Africa and beyond.

agenda

24 June 2026

Africa’s cloud journey began in Southern Africa where strong interconnection ecosystems enabled hyperscale launches. Microsoft Azure opened in Johannesburg and Cape Town in 2019, followed by AWS in Cape Town in 2020, as NAPAfrica traffic surged past 500 Gbps and now exceeds 5 Tbps. Today, West Africa is showing similar signals. IXPN crossed 1 Tbps domestic traffic in 2025, and AMS‑IX Lagos has grown rapidly since its 2023 launch, reaching about 110 Gbps peak. Lagos is emerging as a regional hub supported by subsea cables, data center investments, and growing enterprise cloud demand.
Leading Questions:
-What traffic thresholds and interconnection density are required for a full cloud region?
-How do infrastructure gaps—multi‑AZ data centers, power reliability, fibre diversity—impact readiness?
-What policy and data residency frameworks will attract hyperscalers?
This panel will define requirements and outline a roadmap for West Africa to become the next hyperscale cloud destination.
