Yaana Technologies LLC and Cataleya Private Limited have announced the successful integration of Yaana’s NetDiscovery Compliance Cloud with Cataleya’s Orchid Link SBC platform. This integration enables operators and service providers to remain compliant with the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) requirements in the United States and lawful intercept mandates globally.
What is CALEA and Why is it Important?
The Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) was enacted by Congress in 1994. It requires telecommunications carriers and manufacturers to design their equipment, facilities, and services to ensure they have the necessary surveillance capabilities to comply with legal requests for information. CALEA aims to preserve the ability of law enforcement agencies to conduct electronic surveillance while protecting the privacy of information outside the scope of the investigation. In 2005, coverage of CALEA was extended to include broadband Internet access providers and providers of interconnected VoIP service.
